Madhya Pradesh Police Probe Khandwa Abduction Complaint

Police in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, are investigating a complaint filed by a youth who alleges that his wife was forcibly taken away by her family shortly after their marriage. The incident, which was captured on video, has raised questions about the case and has become a topic of discussion locally and online.

The youth and the woman, both from Khandwa district, had been in a live-in relationship in Indore for several days. They were married on Tuesday afternoon at the Mahadevgarh temple in Khandwa. Following the ceremony, they went to a notary office in the Malikuan area to complete legal formalities related to their marriage.

The complaint states that eight to ten members of the woman's family reached the notary office during this time. The youth has alleged that the woman was grabbed, put into a car and taken away. He has further accused the group of assaulting him during the incident.

Following the incident, the youth approached the Kotwali police station and submitted a written complaint. He also gave police documents relating to their live-in relationship and marriage. He has sought safety for himself and his wife and has asked that the woman be brought back. Ashok Paliwal, the guardian present at the temple wedding, went with the youth to the police station and provided details of the event.

DSP (Headquarters) Durgesh Armo said the video shows some people leading the woman away. The complaint at the Kotwali police station is being examined, and police are searching for the woman while getting in touch with her relatives.

Once the woman is traced, her statement will be recorded before a court. Police said further action will depend on her statement and the facts established during the investigation. The circumstances of the incident and the allegations in the complaint will become clearer after her statement is on record.
