Police Register Murder Case After Recruiter’s Sudden Death in Lucknow Marathon

Following the untimely death of Yogendra Singh during a home guard recruitment race, Lucknow police have escalated the matter to a murder investigation. The post‑mortem indicated fatal asphyxiation due to a plastic bottle, and the DCP, Vikrant Veer, confirmed that Singh’s condition deteriorated shortly after the event.

A formal FIR was lodged at the Metropolitan Police Station, and on September 19 the brother filed a murder charge, prompting the registration of a case under the appropriate legal provisions. A dedicated five‑member team is now tasked with gathering CCTV footage, statements from eyewitnesses, and other critical evidence.

The family seeks a transparent and comprehensive inquiry, urging the involvement of a senior investigative agency to ensure justice.
