Chief Electoral Officer Reviews Voter Registration in Lucknow

Lucknow, October 24: A special campaign to add missing eligible citizens and first-time voters to the electoral roll was conducted across Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. Under the drive, eligible citizens were encouraged to fill in Form-6 at all polling stations in the state.

Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa conducted a review of several booths in Lucknow to see how the arrangements were working. He directed Booth Level Officers to ensure that applications from all eligible citizens are received without delay.

The Chief Electoral Officer explained that the drive seeks to include women, young people and other eligible citizens in the voter list so that no qualified individual is denied the right to vote. Voter registration facilities were made available at every polling station across the state.

Rinwa visited polling stations at Modern Academy in Viramkhand and St. John Vasco in Vivekkhand, Gomti Nagar, both located in the 173-Lucknow East assembly constituency. He also toured the Delhi Public School polling station in Gomti Nagar Extension, which is part of the 169-Bakshi Ka Talab assembly constituency.

He engaged with the BLOs present at the booths and with citizens who had arrived to submit their applications. He also checked the quality of registration-related work. Officials were instructed to ensure that BLOs remain at their booths during scheduled hours and have access to the voter list, the supplementary list and a sufficient number of Form-6 forms. Special focus was placed on assisting those eligible citizens whose names could not be included in the voter list for some reason.

According to the Chief Electoral Officer, District Election Officers, Additional District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers also carried out on-site inspections of booths in various districts to oversee the campaign. He said the aim of the special drive is to make the voter list accurate, updated and free from errors, and that strengthening democracy requires the participation of every eligible citizen. He further appealed for cooperation from Booth Level Agents of recognised political parties and from social organisations.

Rinwa asked residents of the state to check the voter list at their respective booths for their own names and those of their family members. Anyone whose name is not listed can fill in Form-6 and submit it to the concerned BLO. The form requires a recent colour passport-size photograph and self-attested copies of documents relating to birth and residence. The EPIC number of a family member may also be provided if it is available. Eligible citizens can additionally apply online through the Election Commission portal or the ECINET mobile application.
