A bitter love triangle spanning over 15 years ended in bloodshed in Ranchi’s Anand Vihar area. Police announced on Sunday the arrest of five individuals, including a husband-wife duo, in the sensational murder of Asif Ansari.
On February 19 morning, passersby spotted Asif’s corpse near KP School under Khadgao police limits. Blunt force trauma to the head was the apparent cause, later confirmed through autopsy.
Hailing from Kantatoli’s Raja Colony, son of Mohammad Irfan Ali, Asif had been romantically involved with local woman Biula Toppo for over a decade and a half. Her husband, Johnson Minj, knew of the affair and harbored deep resentment.
Fueled by betrayal, Johnson conspired with associate Deepak Agarwal. The duo outsourced the assassination to hitmen Prince Kumar and Prem Lakda, doling out contracts worth lakhs: 1.6 lakhs for Prince, 2.4 for Prem, and 4 lakhs to Deepak.
A specialized team, blending tech evidence like call records and informant tips, pieced together the timeline. Raids yielded the murder weapon—a desi katta—along with vehicles including a Bajaj Discover bike and scooter, plus incriminating bloodied clothes and phones.
In judicial custody now, the accused face charges under relevant IPC sections. Sadar DSP’s briefing shed light on the premeditated attack, underscoring how personal grudges escalate into violence.
Ranchi police reaffirm commitment to dismantling such networks. Asif’s grieving kin demand stringent punishment, while the city reflects on rising crime linked to illicit relationships.
