Local Businesses Get Relief as High Court Orders Pause on Eviction

The High Court's stay on the encroachment removal drive has brought immediate relief to shop owners and small enterprises operating on the HEC Bypass Road. Earlier patrols by police and revenue officials had begun sealing exits and dismantling storefronts, causing panic among traders.

Following the court's intervention, the administration has been directed to halt all eviction activities until 31 December. Business owners can now continue operations without fear of abrupt demolition.

Legal representatives of the petitioners argued that many of the structures were built over several years and that sudden removal would lead to loss of livelihood. The judges accepted these concerns and balanced them against the need to protect public land.

The temporary reprieve is expected to calm tensions in the area, while a longer-term resolution regarding the status of the land is still pending before the courts.
