Legal case strengthens against arrested goat‑theft suspect in Uttar Pradesh

Following his arrest in the Sidhaari sector of Azamgarh, suspect Asif has been charged under the Arms Act and related sections for illegal possession of a firearm and involvement in organized theft.

Police records indicate six pending criminal cases against Asif, ranging from theft of livestock to assault on law‑enforcement officers. The arrested individual confessed to stealing two goats from Doultapur, one from Samenda, and three from Bairiadih in Jiyanpur.

Authorities have also recovered a portion of the proceeds—INR 1,560—from the sale of the stolen goats. The police continue to pursue the gang’s alleged leader, Khalim, who escaped during the night‑time confrontation. A special team has been deployed to locate and apprehend the fugitive.
