Legal Battle Continues After Girl Claims False FIR Over Anti‑Modi Remarks

A viral video from a July 23 protest in Delhi showed a teenage girl hurling profane insults at Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The clip ignited a social media uproar and resulted in a First Information Report (FIR) that lists the girl as a 25‑year‑old resident of an incorrect address.

The girl later told IANS that she was prompted to speak by protest organizers who promised her a platform under the banner of free speech. She has since expressed deep regret, repeatedly apologising and waiting for the Prime Minister’s forgiveness. She maintains that the FIR contains fabricated details, including her name, age, and alleged workplace at a salon, and has called for an investigation into those who filed the false complaint.

Her mother appeared in the interview, confirming the daughter’s true age of fifteen and her birthdate of August 1, 2011. She praised Modi’s magnanimity for granting forgiveness and appealed for the FIR’s withdrawal. The mother also requested that the Prime Minister provide a place of refuge for the family, explaining that the father is absent and they are currently homeless.

Lawyer Anil Kumar reiterated that the FIR was drafted without due diligence and emphasized the girl’s remorse over her language. He affirmed that the legal process is ongoing and that the family hopes for a swift resolution that restores the girl’s dignity and secures their safety.
