Legal Battle Over Dhruv Rathi’s Claim About Deities Sparks Judicial Intervention

A legal dispute surrounding Dhruv Rathi’s YouTube video has drawn the attention of the Delhi High Court. The video, titled “Can Hindus Eat Beef? Kerala Story 2 Exposed,” accused the creator of stating that Lord Ram, Mother Sita and Lord Krishna ate meat and drank alcohol. The petition to have the clip removed was presented by advocate Amita Sachdeva, citing potential damage to public order and offence to religious feelings. In court, the Additional Solicitor General Chetan Sharma pressed the bench to hold the hosting platform accountable, insisting that YouTube should have acted swiftly to block the material. He warned that the content could sow division among communities. Google’s representative confirmed that a reply had been issued to the petitioner and that an appeal had been filed with the Grievances Appellate Committee. Justice Swarn Kamal Sharma gave the GAC a strict fifteen‑day window to rule on the appeal and warned that contempt of the order would be dealt with severely.
