Law and Order Emphasised as UP Government Removes Illegal Mosque

In a decisive action that underscores Uttar Pradesh’s focus on law and order, the state administration demolished an unauthorised mosque inside the Saharanpur collectorate complex on September 7. The operation followed a district and sessions court decision that upheld the City Magistrate’s earlier order declaring the structure illegal.

The demolition was preceded by a heavy police deployment, including the Sub‑Divisional Magistrate, City Magistrate, Additional General Forces, and specialized units such as the Provincial Armed Constabulary and Rapid Reaction Force. The gate to the mosque was locked, and access to the collectorate was tightly controlled to avoid any disorder.

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak addressed the media, emphasizing that the state would not yield to political posturing. He stated, “There is no meaning to this; they are indulging in appeasement politics. Law and order will stay robust, and Uttar Pradesh will keep moving forward.”

Opposition parties, notably the Congress and Samajwadi Party, challenged the demolition, alleging that the court process was rushed and that the community was not given adequate time to appeal. They warned that such actions could affect voter sentiment in the run‑up to the 2027 elections, where economic and social issues will dominate the narrative.

The administration maintains that the demolition was a lawful enforcement of court orders, aimed at preserving the rule of law and preventing the establishment of unauthorised structures within government premises.
