Law Enforcement Highlights Peaceful Situation Amid Drug Crackdown and IED Attack

Rio noted that law and order in Nagaland remains largely peaceful, crediting district administrations, police and security forces for their commitment. He condemned the IED blast in Chumukedima district that targeted a vehicle carrying Assam Rifles personnel, resulting in one soldier’s death and four serious injuries. The incident was labeled cowardly and has been handed over to the National Investigation Agency for probing. On the drug front, the state police recorded more than 407 cases under the NDPS Act between January 2024 and May 2026, leading to the arrest of 677 accused. Additionally, 550 new police vehicles have been procured under the Home Ministry’s modernization assistance to boost operational capacity.
