Lalbaug Ganpati pandal accident: 8‑year‑old girl killed, three in ICU

During the early hours of September 20, a power surge struck the area surrounding a Ganpati pandal in the Kalachowki sector of Lalbaug, Mumbai. The shock affected five children – two male and three female – who were standing close to the structure. An eight‑year‑old girl could not survive the injuries and was pronounced dead at Masina Hospital. The other victims suffered serious burns; one was transferred to Global Hospital in Parle for further care, while the remaining three are currently in the ICU at Masina Hospital. The pandal is located on Dattaram Lad Marg, adjacent to the Kalachowki Department Public Festival Mandal, and was experiencing heavy footfall due to the ongoing Ganesh celebrations.
