In Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh, persistent rain and the threat of water‑logging forced the district education office to announce a full‑day holiday for schools on September 2. The order, issued by District Basic Education Officer Praveen Kumar Tiwari, applies to all recognised schools—whether run by local bodies, aided, CBSE, ICSE or other boards—offering Hindi and English medium education up to class 8. While students will stay home, teachers and support staff are required to be present at their institutions to complete tasks such as attendance verification, database updates, and other departmental responsibilities.
