Kushinagar Accident: Driver Fled After Killing Two Students

Kushinagar district officials reported a fatal collision on August 25 involving a fast‑moving luxury automobile and a scooter transporting three college scholars. The impact killed Nisha Giri and Anamika Thakur, while Alisha Khatun suffered life‑threatening injuries.

The trio were returning from Vidyavati Devi College when the sedan, reportedly exceeding speed limits, struck their scooter on NH‑28. After the crash, the driver fled. Residents pursued and stopped the vehicle near Shahid Petrol Pump in Dumra Bar.

Two passengers from the car were taken into custody. Police recovered empty bottles of alcohol and a beer carton, raising questions about possible drinking before the incident. While attempting to escape, the driver also collided with a 22‑year‑old pedestrian, causing the front‑left tyre to burst.

Authorities have launched a thorough investigation, collecting eyewitness testimonies, forensic evidence and vehicle data.
