Krishnagiri Mango Production to Gain Direct Airport Export Links

Krishnagiri district is set to receive dedicated logistics support that will connect its mango output directly to Chennai and Bengaluru airports. This move is part of a broader plan to develop a mango industrial corridor covering Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri, as detailed in the state's vision document.

The proposal includes five integrated processing parks equipped with cold storage and mango pulp production units. Improved transport infrastructure will enable smoother direct exports, giving mango growers better access to global markets. A mango value‑addition centre is also slated for establishment.

With around 51,000 hectares under mango cultivation across the two districts, and 24 pulp processing units already operating in Krishnagiri, the region stands as a pivotal mango production hub in Tamil Nadu. Industry representatives have welcomed the initiative, noting its potential to boost farmer incomes and streamline supply chains.

The plan also calls for increased domestic consumption of mango pulp, urging the government to promote its use in midday meal programs and other local initiatives.
