Kolkata’s public transport landscape is set to accommodate late‑night workers and event‑goers with an extended final departure at 10:30 p.m., effective from July 27, 2026. The previous last‑train time of 9:44 p.m. will be replaced on both the Blue and Green corridors, allowing passengers more time to reach home after concerts, theater shows, or night‑shift duties. Metro officials noted that safety measures, especially for women traveling on the last services, will be reinforced at stations and on trains. The extended evening service is part of a broader effort to make the city’s rapid rail system more adaptable to modern commuting patterns.
