Kolkata Authorities Investigate Suspicious Bagged Remains in New Town Area

In the New Town district of Kolkata, investigators are examining a case where a young man's decomposed body was found wrapped inside a bag. The corpse, identified after forensic work as Saurav Biswas, aged roughly 32‑35, displayed severe facial crushing and bore several tattoos. Preliminary findings suggest the homicide occurred two to three days before the body was recovered. Nearby CCTV footage shows a youth carrying the sack, placing it behind a stationary motorcycle, and piling bricks over it to keep it stable. Residents reported the missing person had not been seen for three days. The body was transferred to Bidhannagar Hospital around 8 a.m., where doctors confirmed it was at least three to four days old. The case has been forwarded for a post‑mortem, and police are scrutinising the video to identify the suspect. This follows two earlier incidents: a July 29 discovery of a body near a roadside eatery in New Town and a July 23 find of a corpse hanging from a railing in Damdam Park.
