From Kodarma to Deoghar: A 21‑Litre Ganga Water Journey for Lord Shiva

In Kodarma, on July 31, the sacred month of Sawan sees devotees flocking to Shiv temples across Jharkhand. One of them, Domchanch native Kusum Kumari, is undertaking a remarkable pilgrimage. She will transport 21 liters of Ganga water to the Ajgaibinath shrine in Bihar for a jalabhishek ceremony.

Later she will replenish her supply with another 21 liters from the north‑flowing Ganga and trek to the famous Baba Dham in Deoghar. There she will repeat the sacred offering, reinforcing her dedication to Lord Shiva.

Beyond the ritual, Kusum's march serves as a campaign for "go sanrakshan" – the protection and care of cows. She emphasizes that stray cattle often face danger on highways and need immediate assistance from both authorities and citizens. The pilgrimage, covering roughly 350‑400 km, will see her walking 25‑30 km each day while motivating people to adopt cow‑friendly practices.
