Kochi Authorities Hold Traveller Who Tried to Open Aircraft Exit Door During Flight
A traveller from Palakkad, identified as Jamshir, was taken into custody at Kochi International Airport after he attempted to open the emergency exit door of a Batik Air aircraft en route from Kuala Lumpur. Cabin crew responded immediately, restraining the passenger with assistance from fellow travellers, preventing any further escalation.
The Central Industrial Security Force first intervened, and the Nedumbassery police subsequently placed the individual under arrest for a detailed inquiry. Police have registered an FIR and are probing whether the act stemmed from fear, a deliberate attempt to cause disruption, or another hidden purpose.
The aircraft landed safely, and security personnel escorted the passenger off the plane and handed him over to the police. The incident caused no injuries, and the flight continued its schedule after the landing.
