Saffron Attire to Boost Traffic and Crowd Management in Kolkata

Kolkata Police’s new volunteer scheme introduces saffron‑coloured shirts and orange caps to aid traffic regulation and crowd management during Durga Puja. The ₹8.9 million budget covers material and stitching, with 7.3 million for shirts and 1.6 million for caps. Volunteers, recruited from schools, colleges and NCC units, will receive brief training before deployment at major pandals and thoroughfares.
