Kidnapped 5-Year-Old Rescued in Maharashtra; Accused Woman Arrested
In a successful operation, police in Maharashtra's Gondia district have rescued a five-year-old boy who had been kidnapped, and arrested the woman accused of taking him.
The boy had gone to an Amravati garba festival, where he was engrossed in watching the dancing. A woman reportedly lured him away and took him to Amgaon. Officers from the Amgaon and Amravati police worked together, detaining the woman and returning the boy safely to his mother.
Amravati police quickly began tracing the child, using CCTV recordings and other inquiries. Their findings showed that the woman had brought the boy to Amgaon tehsil in Gondia district. This information was passed on to the Amravati crime branch and the Amgaon police.
The Amgaon police then began a search for the child. They were informed that a child was at the house of Ramcharan Gupta, a resident of Risama. Upon entering, the officers found the five-year-old asleep on a bed.
The photograph received earlier and a photo of the sleeping boy were shared with the Amravati crime branch, which confirmed his identity. After the confirmation, the Amravati investigation team reached Amgaon, took custody of the boy and left for Amravati.
In another development on Thursday, the North-East district Anti-Auto Theft Squad of New Delhi arrested a supplier of prohibited firecrackers. Police recovered 57.8 kilograms of banned firecrackers from him.
