Khumanthem Singh visits Kangpokpi, inspects water project amid peace drive

On Friday, Chief Minister Khumanthem Singh travelled to the remote village of L. Champhai in Kangpokpi district to inspect a drinking‑water supply scheme that had been damaged during the May 2023 ethnic violence. He observed the repair of the main pipeline that feeds Thangmibang, the district’s administrative hub, and was briefed by senior officials of the Public Health Engineering Department that the work would be completed within a month, restoring safe water to locals. The CM promised full cooperation from three legislators – Haokholet Kipjen, Heikham Dingo Singh and K. Joykison Singh – and assured that security forces would be deployed to safeguard the project. He also urged the village chairman to facilitate the engineers’ work and mentioned plans to upgrade the Leimakhong Primary Health Centre into a Community Health Centre, while arranging specialist doctors from the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences to serve the area in the interim.
