Battery storage rollout reaches 1,972 MW in Khavda, India

Adani Green Energy reported that it installed a 1,972‑megawatt battery energy storage system (BESS) at its Khavda complex during the first quarter of FY27. The addition lifted the total installed capacity at Khavda to 3,551 MW, making it one of the world’s largest single‑location BESS projects.

The Khavda BESS enhances the stability of the regional grid by storing excess solar generation and dispatching power during peak demand periods. It also reduces reliance on fossil‑fuel peaker plants, contributing to lower carbon emissions.

Company officials said the project showcases AGEL’s commitment to integrating advanced storage solutions as part of its broader renewable strategy. The firm expects further BESS deployments across other sites, aiming to add more than 10 GW of storage capacity by the end of the fiscal year.
