Chief Minister Khandu and Union Leaders Lead Flood Survey in Arunachal

Arunachal Pradesh’s flood crisis drew immediate attention from the highest levels of government as Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Union Minister Kiren Rijiju arrived on the scene on July 1. The trio conducted an aerial reconnaissance over the Kheyi Panyor district, capturing real‑time footage of inundated roads, breached bridges and agricultural fields turned into water bodies.

Following the fly‑over, the officials proceeded on foot and by vehicle into the villages, where they engaged with families who had lost homes, crops and livestock. Chauhan pledged that the central government would launch a detailed damage survey, ensuring that every affected household receives appropriate compensation and that new housing projects are initiated without delay.

The minister also commended the proactive response of local residents who, without waiting for governmental directives, began constructing protective barriers along riverbanks. He described this community‑driven effort as “inspiring” and assured that the government would provide technical and material support to strengthen these defenses.

In his concluding remarks, Chauhan reaffirmed that the combined efforts of the Union and state governments, guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, will accelerate relief distribution, expedite rehabilitation, and restore normal life to the flood‑hit regions of Arunachal Pradesh.
