The recently activated India‑UK trade accord is set to drive growth across several high‑potential sectors. Analysts from the PhD Chamber of Commerce and Industry have identified eight product groups that are already witnessing rapid export expansion to the United Kingdom.
These include: 1. Smartphones – leveraging India’s large electronics manufacturing ecosystem. 2. Pharmaceuticals – capitalising on world‑class drug production capabilities. 3. Aluminium oxide – a critical input for advanced engineering. 4. Petroleum products – benefiting from streamlined customs procedures. 5. Engineering goods and machinery parts – supported by the PLI scheme. 6. Footwear – tapping into established design and production networks. 7. Processed agricultural commodities – meeting rising demand for high‑quality food items. 8. Specialty materials – catering to niche industrial applications.
Industry voices such as PhDCCI President Rajiv Juneja and CII Director Chandrjit Banerjee view the agreement as a historic step that strengthens economic ties, creates new business opportunities, and safeguards national interests while enhancing global competitiveness.
