Key Express Trains to Stop at Sawantwadi Road Enhances Konkan Connectivity
Rail connectivity in the Konkan zone received a significant uplift as three premier express services were cleared to halt at Sawantwadi Road station. The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus–Mangalore Express, the Tirunavanhpuram Central–Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani, and the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus–Tirunavanhpuram North Poorva Express will now pause at the station, offering passengers direct access to major cities across the country. The move, prompted by a written appeal from Chief Minister Fadnavis, underscores the government’s focus on integrating remote coastal districts with the national rail network. Officials anticipate that improved rail services will stimulate tourism, create jobs, and promote balanced regional development.
