BJP Leader Keshav Maurya Targets SP Chief Over Law and Order
Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has hit out at Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, saying he has no moral right to question the state's law and order situation without reviewing his own party's past.
Maurya urged Akhilesh Yadav to look back at the 2012 to 2017 period of Samajwadi Party rule, which he said was marked by goondaism, crime, mafia activity and riots. Only after that, he argued, should the opposition speak about law and order.
Maurya cited Union Home Minister Amit Shah's remarks and said the BJP-led NDA government in Uttar Pradesh is as steady as Angad's feet. He predicted that the Samajwadi Party would not return to power for 30 years.
He said Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi were chasing a comeback, but claimed neither would succeed, with Gandhi unlikely to win power nationally and Yadav unlikely to win in Uttar Pradesh.
The deputy chief minister described the Samajwadi Party as a party of Ram-haters and said voters would show it its real standing in the 2027 Assembly polls. He added that the public would puncture its cycle and send it back to Saifai.
Maurya also said that although Akhilesh Yadav is a sitting MP, he does not seem to know that citizenship certificates are issued by the Home Ministry and not the Election Commission.
On the SIR exercise, which involves revising electoral rolls, Maurya said the SP chief was panicking because his goons would no longer be able to manipulate the voter list. He said infiltrators were being removed from the list one by one, which had left the opposition restless.
