Kerala Chief Minister V D Satishan posted on X that he met Dr. E. Shridharan, the legendary civil engineer behind India’s metro revolutions and major railway feats. The dialogue focused on pushing forward Kerala’s most critical infrastructure projects to guarantee durable and inclusive growth.

Dr. Shridharan’s resume includes the record‑breaking 46‑day restoration of the Pamban Bridge after a cyclone, key input in designing the Kolkata Metro, leadership of the Konkan Railway across difficult terrain, and a tenure as Managing Director of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (1995‑2012) where he delivered the first phase early and under budget.

Honours bestowed upon him comprise the Padma Shri (2001), Padma Vibhushan (2008), the French Legion of Honour (2005), and a spot in Time magazine’s 2003 list of Asia’s heroes.
