Kayalvizhi Withdraws Plea as Court Orders Police Final Report
In a development in the bank manager slapping allegation, the Madras High Court has ordered police to complete their investigation paperwork by filing a final report within four weeks. The matter concerns Kayalvizhi, daughter of former Union minister MK Alagiri.
According to the case record, Shastri Nagar police registered the case against her under four sections, including criminal intimidation. The incident was linked to the SBI branch at Adyar in Chennai.
Kayalvizhi had sought quashing of the FIR through a petition before the High Court. Her plea claimed that the bank manager had behaved abusively and used obscene language, and that the complaint had not disclosed these facts.
During the hearing before Justice G.K. Ilanthiraiyan, her counsel submitted that she wanted to withdraw the petition. The court permitted the withdrawal and dismissed the plea.
With this order, the case moves to the trial court, where the police must file the final report within the stipulated four-week period.
