Kavad Yatra to Resume From Haridwar to Ghaziabad After Years of Ban

Yogi Adityanath announced that the Kavad Yatra – a pilgrimage of devotees carrying sacred pots – will soon restart its longest route, stretching from Haridwar to Ghaziabad. He recalled a 2017 meeting where the then‑government warned that the march could spark unrest, leading to its suspension. The chief minister argued that the protest was never about security but about the political class misreading devotion.

He appealed to the organizers to maintain discipline, promising full police support and stating that no barrier would be placed on the traditional journey. The minister also highlighted the creation of a dedicated Kavad corridor linking Haridwar directly to Ghaziabad, which he described as a symbol of the state’s respect for faith.

"Any attempt to block the yatra will be met with firm action," he warned, urging all political opponents to stay out of the way.
