Kausambi Educator’s Decades‑Long Service Earns Country’s Highest Teaching Honor

Uttar Pradesh’s Kausambi district celebrates the national recognition of one of its most dedicated teachers, Shalini Kushwaha. After more than ten years of teaching in Rewadi, she moved to Kausambi, where she was selected as a government teacher in 2015. Her record of improving classroom outcomes, upgrading school facilities and championing inclusive education led to a State Teacher Award and, now, the coveted National Teacher Award. In addition to classroom instruction, Shalini has contributed as an Academic Resource Person, conducting inspections, delivering professional development workshops and mentoring junior staff. Her husband, Prem Kumar Singh, remarks that the family has always placed education at the centre of daily life, sharing early‑morning routines, scooter rides to school and evenings of lesson preparation. Their daughter Janvi, who studied in the same school where her mother first taught, says her mother’s work ethic inspired her own aspirations to join the bureaucracy and serve society. The upcoming ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan will showcase a career built on dedication, collaboration and a belief that every child deserves quality education.
