Kanwar journey highlighted as a symbol of discipline and collective aid by Yogi Adityanath

Lucknow, August 10 – Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described the Kanwar pilgrimage as more than a devotional trek; he portrayed it as a celebration of self‑control, public service and cooperative spirit. He reflected on how the ancient practice, rooted in the tale of Shiva’s consumption of poison and subsequent water offering, continues to bind Indian society together.

The minister pointed out that the event erases distinctions of caste, creed, geography and wealth. All participants, irrespective of background, share the same purpose – to carry a Kanwar full of holy water to a Shiva shrine. This shared purpose, he said, exemplifies the timeless ethos of Samaveda culture.

Authorities have installed temporary shelters, medical vans, clean‑water kiosks and night‑time illumination on popular routes. Community volunteers are coordinating food distribution and crowd management. The chief minister appealed to citizens to step forward whenever a pilgrim faces difficulty, stressing that such gestures reinforce national strength.

Yogi concluded that preserving the sanctity of the Kanwar yatra is a collective duty that also serves as a vibrant reminder of India’s cultural harmony and the unity of its people.
