Airports play a crucial role in the development of any city. It’s generally understood that the introduction of airport facilities in a city boosts its growth, whether in tourism or trade. However, this rule seems not to apply to Kanpur, an industrial city in Uttar Pradesh, once known as the ‘Manchester of the East.’
The primary reason is that while a few flights have commenced from Kanpur, most are so expensive that it’s cheaper for travelers to go to Lucknow and take a flight from there.
Travelers also believe that although the airport has been opened, there’s a lack of flights and facilities, making it more convenient and affordable to travel via Lucknow.
