BJP MP Kangana Ranaut commented on the Constitution Club of India elections, stating that it was a confusing situation, especially for newcomers, as it was the first time the election pitted BJP against BJP. She mentioned that she and other new members were seeking guidance from senior members. The election was for the secretary position, with two prominent BJP figures competing: seven-time MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy and former MP Sanjeev Balyan. Rudy had been unopposed for the position for 25 years, but Balyan’s candidacy made this election interesting. The results were expected by 5 PM. This was the fourth election held by the club, with previous elections in 2009, 2014, and 2019. The outcome would determine if Balyan could challenge Rudy’s political dominance.
Central Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, and CPP Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, among other leaders, cast their votes in the election. Over 500 voters participated, exceeding the usual number. The voting took place from 11 AM to 4 PM.
Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, a BJP leader and candidate for the secretary position, stated that the election was beyond party politics, serving as a platform for MPs and former MPs. Rajiv Pratap Rudy, a BJP MP, remarked that it was an election for all parties, expressing his view that a major election took place in a good atmosphere, with people from all over the country participating.
