Jammu, October 25: The Jammu Police have stepped up their investigation into a drug case registered at Police Station Kanachak, which has now resulted in the seizure of a pistol and a live cartridge in addition to narcotics.

The matter began on the night of October 18-19, 2026, when police recovered 10.71 grams of a heroin-like substance from three accused: Shabir Hussain alias Happy, Gagandeep Singh and Manish Singh. The recovery was made in the Chadgali area under Kirpalpur Post, which falls within the jurisdiction of Police Station Kanachak.

Acting on information provided by accused Gagandeep Singh, investigators later recovered 9.22 grams of a heroin-like substance, a pistol and one live 7.65 mm caliber round. The total quantity of the suspected heroin in the case has now reached 19.93 grams.

A vehicle allegedly used in the crime has also been identified by the investigating team.

The probe is ongoing to determine the source of the contraband, establish forward and backward links, examine the circumstances surrounding the recovery of weapons and ammunition, and identify the remaining persons involved.

Jammu Police said they remain committed to tackling drug smuggling and other criminal activities, and will pursue strict legal action against all those found guilty.
