Kalratri celebrations draw crowds to Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh shrines

During Navratri’s seventh day, devotees thronged three distinguished temples in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh to worship Kalratri, the seventh form of Goddess Durga. The ancient Lalita Devi temple in Prayagraj, recognized as a Shaktipeeth, received offerings of traditional garlands, coconuts, assorted fruits, fresh flowers and sweets, symbolising hopes for wellbeing.

A Mangala Aarti inaugurated the night‑long worship, which later featured a grand decoration of the deity. Throughout the nine‑day festival, the temple’s schedule includes Shat‑Chandi, Durga Saptashati recitals, bhajans and kirtans, with added security personnel to manage the influx of pilgrims.

Devasa’s Mata Tekri, famed for its historic aura, held a vibrant morning Aarti. Pilgrims, many on their knees, prayed for personal wishes at the site popularly called “Rakt‑Pet”, echoing the legend of Sati’s blood spill, reputed to answer sincere prayers.

On the Trikoot hill in Maher, the Sharda shrine conducted a precise Kalratri puja under the auspices of chief priest Pawan Ji (Daau Sarkar). Devotees traveling great distances joined the ceremony, seeking blessings for family happiness and material comfort.
