Kachar District Operation Nets ₹10 Crore Yaba Shipment, One Arrest Made

Authorities in Kachar district intercepted a truck transporting 50,000 Yaba tablets worth roughly ten crore rupees on August 18. The raid took place at the old MVI check post in Digarkhal, where police halted the vehicle and uncovered a concealed chamber used to hide the narcotics. A single suspect was taken into custody during the operation.

The seizure aligns with a broader anti‑drug strategy pursued by the Assam government. Earlier in August, a combined effort of Assam police and Assam Rifles confiscated more than 110,000 tablets and over two hundred grams of heroin, valued at over 28 crore rupees, leading to three arrests. Similar operations in July and June also yielded substantial quantities of Yaba and resulted in multiple detentions, reinforcing Kachar’s status as a critical node in the state’s drug‑interdiction network.
