Minister of State for Home Affairs emphasized that the new statutes place victims at the centre of the criminal process. Investigations into crimes against women and children must now be wrapped up within two months of registration, and courts are restricted to granting a maximum of two postponements per case. This approach seeks to restore public confidence by delivering prompt, impartial resolutions. The reforms also streamline critical stages such as initial inquiries, documentation for the accused and complainant, verdict delivery and mercy petitions, all bound by strict timelines. By replacing outdated colonial legislation with technology‑driven procedures, the government aims to ensure accountability, efficiency and transparency throughout the justice system.
