Justice for Khategaon SHO: Police Shoot Two While Transporting
The search for those responsible for the gruesome death of Khategaon SHO Dilip Puri has yielded significant results, with police operatives engaging in multiple shootouts that injured two major suspects. The officer met his end after being pinned under a heavy commercial vehicle during a crackdown on illegal freight movement. His fatal exposure triggered strict directives from the state government to pursue the perpetrators aggressively.
The first engagement unfolded while transporting Gajendra, a prime accused brought in from Alirajpur. A flat tire temporarily delayed the armored escort near a repair point. During the breakdown, Gajendra exploited the distraction to confiscate a police revolver and launch a surprise attack. Retrieving the situation, armed personnel returned fire, inflicting a leg wound that necessitated immediate medical evacuation to Dewas.
The second confrontation involved Dheeraj, who was being held in close proximity to the Nota Press. When a momentary lapse in the cordon occurred, he forcefully extracted a firearm from a constable and attempted to break custody. Law enforcement agents quickly surrounded the area and fired upon him, ensuring he was critically wounded in the leg before he could escape. Both individuals have since been transferred to Indore for intensive treatment.
State officials have since prioritized family welfare following the tragedy. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav directed the release of a one crore rupee ex-gratia payment to the victim’s dependents. Additionally, the government formalized the appointment of his wife as a sub-inspector, cementing her place in the department and acknowledging her late husband’s unwavering commitment to duty.
