June 2026 Missing Person Drive Finds 48 Children and 145 Adults
NEW DELHI – Operation Milap, a focused initiative launched by the South‑West district of Delhi police, wrapped up on June 30 after a concerted effort to locate individuals reported missing over the past months. The operation succeeded in reunifying 193 people with their families, of which 48 were children and 145 were adults.
The search strategy leaned heavily on cross‑checking CCTV footage from high‑traffic zones like auto‑rickshaw stands, e‑rickshaw hubs, bus stations and railway platforms. Simultaneously, police posted photographs of missing and kidnapped persons at these locations, prompting voluntary tips from commuters and local vendors.
Law enforcement officers also canvassed bus drivers, conductors and roadside sellers to trace any recent sightings. Information gathered from community informers was cross‑referenced with data from nearby police posts and medical facilities to pinpoint likely whereabouts.
Results varied by precinct: Vasant Vihar police station reunited ten missing individuals (four men, six women); RK Puram rescued two minors aged one to eighteen and three adults; South Campus identified six women; Vasant Kunj North helped locate two girls and four adults; Vasant Kunj South found six minors and nine adults; Kapsheda uncovered seven minors and ten adults; Palm Village secured six minors and eleven adults; Sagar Pur brought fifteen adults home; Delhi Cant retrieved seven adults; and Sarojini Nagar located two minors and two adults.
Additional achievements include the SJ Enclave team’s recovery of six adults, Kishan Ghar’s identification of ten individuals (five minors, five adults), the Anti‑Human Trafficking Unit’s safe return of eighteen minors, and the District Missing Persons Unit’s resolution of 57 adult cases (18 men, 39 women).
Police noted that several of the cases solved during June had been on the books for years, illustrating the long‑term impact of the campaign. Overall, from January through June 2026, Delhi district police reported finding 866 missing persons, comprising 226 children and 640 adults.
