June 2 Launch: Telangana’s ₹5 Lakh Insurance for 1.15 Cr Families

Marking a significant step in social security, Telangana is set to unveil the Indiramma Jeevan Bima Yojana on June 2. The scheme promises to provide ₹5 lakh life cover to 1.15 crore families, regardless of their economic background, and will be formally introduced on the occasion of Telangana Formation Day. Finance and Energy Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka highlighted that the program eliminates barriers of caste and class, ensuring every deserving household receives protection. He also outlined parallel welfare measures, including the allocation of solar plants to women’s self-help groups and an escalation of interest-free credit to ₹1 lakh crore. In a related decision, the state cabinet approved the second phase of the Indiramma housing scheme, clearing construction of 2,500 new houses per constituency for 2.5 lakh families. Special grants ranging from ₹2 lakh to ₹3 lakh will help finish thousands of incomplete homes dating back to the pre-bifurcation period. By the launch date, officials expect to conduct griha pravesh ceremonies for approximately one lakh newly constructed houses, turning long-awaited dreams into reality for many families. The coordinated rollout of insurance and housing initiatives underscores the government’s focus on comprehensive welfare.
