Judiciary Records Assurance from Delhi Police on Controlling CJPM Demo

The Delhi High Court formally recorded the promise made by Delhi Police to take all permissible legal actions against the upcoming protest announced by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJPM) and its founder Abhijit Dipke. Acting Chief Justice Nitin Vasudev Sambre and Justice Sanjay Sharma heard the submission of Additional Solicitor General Chetan Sharma on behalf of the Union and the police.

The hearing stemmed from a petition by street‑seller Anil Kumar Gupta, who requested a ban on any CJPM gathering at Central Park or any other venue not earmarked for a protest. Senior advocate Sachin Puri warned that the event, slated for a Saturday during a major Hindu festival, could cripple the commercial life of Connaught Place, already reeling from a week of losses.

The bench was informed that Dipke had been served a notice via email. The judges reiterated that the authorities have already begun regulating his activities and pledged that every statutory remedy will be explored. A further hearing is set for 3 November.
