Judge Bajpai Allows Khalid Two Video Calls Per Week
Additional Sessions Judge Samir Bajpai of Delhi has ruled that Umar Khalid can continue to make two video‑calls every week while incarcerated. The ruling highlighted that Khalid’s conduct over six years showed no breach of the Delhi jail’s communication guidelines. Khalid had petitioned the court after prison officials curtailed his e‑meeting schedule to one per week in May 2026, claiming the move contravened his established practice. The judge dismissed the prison’s argument that the inmate was only eligible for a single weekly call, emphasizing the lack of any infraction on Khalid’s part. The order also instructed the central jail’s superintendent to ensure the two‑call schedule is restored without delay.
