JPSC Board Faces Turmoil; Former Chairman Already Questioned by CID

Ranchi, August 9 – Turmoil engulfed the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) on Sunday when three of its senior members – Dr. Ajita Bhatta Charya, Dr. Anima Hansda and Dr. Jamal Ahmed – submitted resignation letters to the governor.

The resignations arrived amid a sustained movement by exam candidates demanding a transparent investigation into alleged irregularities in recent JPSC competitive exams. No formal explanation for the resignations has been provided.

The Crime Investigation Department (CID) has announced that it will interrogate each former member separately: Dr. Bhatta Charya on Monday, Dr. Hansda on Tuesday and Dr. Ahmed on Wednesday, with the possibility of further summons if required.

Earlier, CID had already conducted four rounds of questioning with former JPSC chairman and ex‑chief secretary L. Khiyange, seeking details on the examination process and the commission’s internal decisions. The ongoing probe into the 14th JPSC civil service preliminary examination also includes questioning a computer operator from the chief secretary’s office and an accountant from the private firm TDP Ltd.

Investigators are collecting information on alleged contacts between exam officials and outside parties, and sources suggest that more arrests could follow based on the evidence gathered.
