Details of the 30‑year lease of JPNIC reveal massive financial stakes

Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna disclosed that the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) will receive a lease rent of six crore rupees per year from the private consortium that will manage the Jay Prakash Narayan International Center (JPNIC). The lease, approved in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, spans 30 years and includes a clause for a five percent annual increase. Over the full term, the LDA is projected to return 857 crore rupees, inclusive of interest, to the state government.

The selected companies – Vrindavan Bottlers Private Ltd and Rakwood Hotels & Resorts Private Ltd – must also furnish an advance payment of 10.11 crore rupees and a performance guarantee of 25 crore rupees. The centre, whose construction has already consumed 821.74 crore rupees, will be operated privately while the government retains free usage of the facility for 50 days each year for official events. Earlier, a three‑tier society that oversaw the project was dissolved, and the entire venture was transferred to the LDA, clearing the path for private management.
