Journalist Praises Hindi Promotion as Media Shapes Public Discourse
Prasoon Joshi, chairperson of Prasar Bharati, accepted an award from Navbharat Times on July 4 in New Delhi. In his address, he lauded the newspaper’s enduring commitment to advancing Hindi, noting that it has long given writers and thinkers a robust platform to voice their ideas.
Joshi narrated his own contributions to Hindi through movies, songs and various artistic avenues, stressing that language growth is a collective mission. He thanked the Defence Minister for presenting the award and highlighted the minister’s comments on the fully democratic nature of today’s news ecosystem.
The chairman warned that a number of news channels are drifting toward pure entertainment, causing audiences to question the reliability of information. With countless sources competing for attention, the challenge of maintaining credibility has intensified.
Drawing from his decades‑long media experience, Joshi urged fellow journalists to stay steadfast, stick to their values, and deliver news with honesty, as the responsibility of the press has never been more demanding.
