Joint Action by Army Spear Corps, Assam Rifles, and CRPF Nets Multi‑Lakh Drug Haul

In a landmark operation aimed at curbing narcotics flow in India's northeast, the Indian Army’s elite Spear Corps teamed up with the Assam Rifles and the Central Reserve Police Force to intercept a multi‑lakh rupee drug shipment. The raid took place on 16 September 2026 in the remote Namgoy sector of Changlang district, Arunachal Pradesh.

The coordinated sweep uncovered 21 concealed soap boxes that together held 233 grams of brown sugar, a substance commonly abused for its stimulant effects. Valued at approximately Rs 46.6 lakh, the haul represents one of the largest seizures of this kind in the region.

Two suspects were taken into custody during the operation. Law‑enforcement agencies are currently processing evidence and preparing charges that could lead to a broader crackdown on the drug‑trafficking network that exploits the porous borders of the northeast.
