Jodhpur raid nets two gunmen linked to Punjab murders, says Rajasthan task force

The Rajasthan Anti‑Gangster Task Force (AGTF) successfully apprehended two gunmen in Jodhpur on September 21, who are alleged to belong to the Lawrence Bischnoi criminal outfit. According to ADG Dinesh M.N., the suspects travelled from Punjab after being summoned to carry out an assassination of a reputed businessman in the Marwar region.

The operation commenced following an intelligence bulletin that the pair were stationed in Jodhpur and were in the final stages of planning the attack. The raid was led by ASP Siddhant Sharma, Deputy SP Ravindra Pratap Singh, and inspectors Sunil Jangid and Ramesh Nathawat, with assistance from local law‑enforcement agencies.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Jaskaran Singh alias Karan, along with Sunny and Katta from Harshinh Rai Nagar, Fazilka, and Rajinder alias Billa from Balwana, Abohar. Punjab police had previously announced a cash reward of INR 5 lakh for information that would lead to their detention.

Both men are also wanted in two separate homicide cases in Punjab – the killings of cloth trader Sanjay Verma and businessman Sahil Sen. Investigators suspect these murders were carried out on the instructions of senior Lawrence gang members as part of extortion‑driven activities.

Preliminary statements from the suspects indicate they arrived in Jodhpur with the objective of targeting a local business magnate. The AGTF is now probing the full extent of the conspiracy, identifying the planned target, and tracing the wider network behind the plot. Sources suggest the shooters commonly flee to Nepal after a hit and are recalled for subsequent contracts.

Authorities believe the two were vital operatives for the gang, stepping in for incarcerated comrades. It is suspected that after completing a contract, the shooters are sometimes dispatched abroad and summoned back when a new target is identified.
