Jharkhand Leader’s Mother Rupi Soren Remains Hospitalised, Events Scrapped

Ranchi – Hemant Soren, the head of the Jharkhand government, travelled to Hill View Hospital on Wednesday as his mother, Rupi Soren, continued to fight a serious illness. The 20‑plus day hospital stay began after a sharp decline in her health on September 18, when doctors identified a chest infection. Soren has called off multiple public programs and delayed the evening State Cabinet meeting at the Project Building. The hospital’s senior physician, Dr. Sushma Priya, is overseeing her treatment, though no formal update has been shared publicly. According to close family sources, the chief minister is personally tracking her progress and staying in touch with the medical team. Rupi Soren is the spouse of former chief minister and JMM founder Shibu Soren. Leaders from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and the Congress have extended their well‑wishes for her swift recovery.
