Jind to Host First Hydrogen‑Powered Train Launch, PM Modi Arrives July 17

JIND, July 7 – Haryana’s cabinet minister Ranbir Gangwar announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to the city on July 17 to inaugurate the country’s first hydrogen‑driven train. The train, set to run on the Jind‑Sonipat sector, is billed as a pioneering step toward sustainable mobility on Indian railways.

According to Gangwar, the Prime Minister’s itinerary will also include the commissioning of several infrastructure projects, such as new road links, a solar‑powered water treatment plant, and the laying of foundation stones for upcoming industrial zones. He described the visit as a “historic day for every Haryanvi,” emphasizing the boost it will give to the state’s economic outlook.

The minister did not shy away from critiquing the opposition, stating that the Congress party’s recent internal reshuffling—most notably the elevation of Sanjay Dutt as the state’s new in‑charge—reflects ongoing factional battles and a lack of decisive leadership.

Addressing the water‑related unrest in Chanoat village of the Hansi region, Gangwar said the state has already earmarked funds to reconstruct the damaged water tank and issued a tender worth INR 7.5 crore. He added that the Amrit scheme will lay a separate pipeline to ensure uninterrupted drinking‑water supply, and warned that political activists attempting to inflame the situation are baseless.

Preparations are underway for a large public reception, with local authorities deploying additional security and crowd‑management measures to ensure a smooth ceremony.
