Jharkhand’s New Economic Blueprint Emphasises AI, IT and Inclusive Development

The National Stakeholders Consultation, launched at Delhi’s Taj Palace, marks the formal start of Jharkhand’s drive to diversify its economy beyond mining. Chief Minister Hemant Soren opened the event, stating that the state will now be defined by "mind" rather than "mines" and by "research" instead of merely "resources."

Soren outlined a development model that places technology, research, and innovation at its core. By aligning with global standards presented at the World Economic Forum, Jharkhand aims to implement a "technology governance" system that supports long‑term, sustainable partnerships between industry and government.

Key focus areas include artificial intelligence, information technology, and other high‑growth digital sectors. The government promises to deliver reliable power, modern infrastructure, efficient transport networks and a skilled workforce to attract long‑term investment.

While the state remains rich in strategic minerals such as uranium and mica, the CM urged the adoption of scientific extraction methods that safeguard the environment. Balanced use of natural resources, coupled with protection of water, forest and land, will remain a priority.

The opening session featured ministers from the state and delegates from multinational firms like Google, Microsoft, KPMG and Oracle, underscoring the confidence of the private sector in Jharkhand’s new growth trajectory.
